6 Little Known Natural Home Remedies for Ants Invasion
Ants invasion are common during periods when the rains are near.
They can be disturbing especially when they invade at night. They bite and when they come across chicks, they can kill them.
While people look for exotic ways through which they can fight the ants, there are some natural means that act as deterrents. They will stop the ants from accessing your home and even kill the entire colony.
1. Lemon Juice
Lemons are acidic and when sprayed around the cracks and openings through which the ants enter the house, the ants can lose their sense of tracking. This makes them to go another direction.
2. Cinnamon
Ground cinnamon can be applied at the access points where the ants commonly use to enter the house. You can put sugar water and borax to enhance the effectiveness of the cinnamon.
Some people combine the cinnamon with cloves which gives out a smell that the ants hate. The good thing about cinnamon and the mixture that accompanies it is that it is easier to clean after the process is over.
3. Peppermint
To make this workable, you need to mix peppermint and water in the ratio 1:1. You then put the solution in a spray bottle. You can either spray it in advance around the windows and doors or you can use it when the actual invasion is taking place. You will have the last laugh as you watch them suffer.
4. Dish Soap and Boiling Water
Before you apply this, you need to ensure that all foodstuffs are locked in safe places and sealed up. You can use the honey jar as the center of attraction. First of all, you wash it thoroughly then you place it on a small saucer filled with water in the cupboard. You can use a spray bottle that is filled with water and the liquid dish soap. This kills any ants around. You can also pour boiling water on their hill and this can solve the problem once and for all.
5. Chalk
When you draw a line with chalk, the ants will not cross. You can use the chalk powder in home improvement stores. It is usually packed in squeezey bottles that make it easy for you to draw a line using it.
6. Coffee Grounds
Using coffee grounds to deter ants is one of the most effective remedies. To make it work, you need to put the ground coffee on their entry points such as the cracks and window seals. The coffee ground does not kill the ants but rather it moves them away from the home. This preserves the insects and also peace of mind.
